Coffee & Friendship

Today was a great day! :) I love Tuesdays because a) no Chem or Trig and b) no Chem or Trig. I spent today hanging out with my friend and former bandmate (check this out for some major embarrassment hehehe) Angie. Most of the time the only person I have coffee with is my laptop/a book/a magazine and it was so much fun giggling about girly things today. We did a lot of catching up and laughed ourselves silly talking about our favorite episodes of Girls Season 2.

And then we went around and did some window shopping--we swatched our arms silly at Rustan's and PCX; so much fun! I suppose that's one of the things that we take for granted a lot--girl time with our best friends! :D

Hope & All That Jazz

Lately, being online and looking at people's posts and/or posting my own shiz has been a huge challenge for me. I've been thinking about sincerity and literature and Facebook and whether or not people are still willing to listen. There are more than a million blogs out there, more than a million Facebook accounts, more than a million people tweeting about how their days went--is anyone listening? There is so much talking and so much yapping and so much pressure to "like" things that I find no one really takes the time to take a look at anything anymore. And this is why I've been off the web for the past few days.

It made me extremely sad to realize that despite the (overwhelming--thank you , guys) visits to my blog everyday, this blog has failed to do what I started it for--as a means to keep in touch with people who are no longer in my everyday life. While I find people liking things based on the title or the little blurb that I post up on my social media accounts referencing these entries, only a few of those people who like these things have actually read these things. I'm still unsure about what I can do to promote reading again in a time where people would rather scroll through a feed than sit through a story or listen to an anecdote, but I will keep writing. And I will keep reading. To a certain extent, I guess that's all that I can do.

Writing is a lot like an eating disorder when you're starting out--you think you write to assert the illusion of your freedom of choice when the truth is writing is the ultimate exercise in losing control. You are speaking to someone (everyone, possibly) and you don't know if you will be heard (no one, possibly). Even more than in speech, the possibility for humiliation in writing is huge because a) it is in a medium that can be resurrected (photocopied, re-printed) and b) because writing beyond your diary will always entail tedious care and enormous struggle before you're satisfied with what you've written down (enough to show to other people).

Years ago, when I was initiated into Malate Literary Folio, I remember my editor/friend Akire telling us that the truth is this: no one cares whether you write or not. Most people on campus don't even know about Malate, or don't even read anything that isn't in the "To Read" section of Powerbooks or anything that hasn't been turned into a movie. So if you're writing because you want to be recognized--well, yeah: you might as well stop because that's something you can't count on. Being recognized and making quality work aren't always synonymous.

It's only now, almost 5 years later that I'm realizing how true this is. To a certain extent, I'm sure that we all want recognition but all we can do is the work (make sure we deserve it)-- and whether or not we get the recognition we want is the part that isn't up to us. We just keep working.

Over coffee today, Trizha reminded me that everyone goes through a period of starvation and that we all feel obsolete, sometimes but no one ever got anywhere turning into a recluse this early in life. And so, yes. I think I'll be okay. And yes, Paperweight will be coming out this summer--one way or another.

The Thing That Breaks My Heart

Halloween is something that I look forward to every year--for years Halloween's been about spending the whole day getting ready and at around 4:30 or 5:00 (or 9:00) heading to someone's house or to an art bar somewhere to celebrate while wearing that year's face of choice. But this year, I was extremely exhausted at Halloween--the whole day had been an event unto itself and by the time it came time to "get down" and "partay" I just had no energy left. This was a shame too as a) the food was delicious and b) I went as a genie, but I didn't seem to be the only one who felt that way--in fact, while I was hanging out with my bestfriends we all recounted how for the first time, we'd spent the day doing something other than getting ready for Halloween.

And while I know that that's normal and people get older and all that, a part of me still doesn't quite believe that getting older is an excuse for not having a good time at Halloween. I mean, the party we were at was attended mostly by people 10-15 years older than me and they all seemed fine.
Today was sort of cathartic for me. As I was waiting to be picked up by my car this afternoon, it hit me why things like that just break my heart--I hate that something which I used to look forward to effortlessly is now something that I have to "find time" for. It feels that way with a lot of things too, sometimes--friends who used to come by as per your request at midnight or who used to surprise drop by suddenly need at least a weekend's notice to see you. It's sad, really sad.

But on the other hand, I suppose that making the effort and being worth someone else's effort is a great thing in itself. I'm glad that (despite the obvious backlash of sadness it brings) I still care about my friends enough to see them and vice versa. Today was a good day. :)

A Slice of Happy

Last week, I hung out with my friend Joelle and we spent around three, four hours laughing about the silliest things. :) I didn't get to blog about this because later that day, my brother got hospitalized but this was one of the best days I had last week (sans the bit about the hospital). So much fun! We talked about our friends (who we haven't seen in the longest time) and about Paperweight and about her art cards (she's agreed to sell some of her cards at the Paperweight launch) and about how money (not having it anyway) can be a real byotch.

Anyway, Joelle's been taking up voice acting lessons (you can read all about it on her blog, it is the cat's pajamers) and because of that she is now banned (basically) from ingesting sweet, sticky, sugary goodness. So that day (before this diet thang began) we decided to treat ourselves to a slice of happy--a last hooray for Joelle's sweet tooth. :))
Beanhoppers has been one of my favorite places to eat since I was in my junior year (don't ask what year I am now, harhar)--they've got great coffee. Up until recently, I haven't really hung out here in a while because other cafes started sprouting out everywhere--so much coffee to try, so little time. But yeah I've rediscovered this place recently, because of the hatred for the lack of money mentioned earlier. :)) They have yummyummy cake, for not bad prices. I love their French Toast meal too--which comes with egg and a free mug of brewed coffee. Mmmm.
The photo above is a slice of the Tiramisu Cheesecake (yes, this is not a dream) which I had and below is a snapshot of the Red Velvet cake which Joelle had. :D

Only Seeing Part of It

The past few days have gone by pretty quickly for me because so much has happened. Thinking back on it makes me feel a little odd because so much of my time has been spent socializing and talking to people that I don't normally talk to. This entry is pretty introspective, so read along if you'd like or skip ahead if you'd rather not--but I would really love to know what you think. :)

A Slice of Friendship Pie

Today was a pretty great day. :) I'd almost forgotten what it felt like to hang out with your friends somewhere the whole day and just talk about crazy shit. These days, hang outs are scheduled and usually take place right before or right in between things--classes, appointments, call times. But yeah. Today I hung out with my friends Joelle, Raph and Angie at Exile and it was so, so much fun. We talked about anything and everything: from these pretty art cards Joelle's been making (and will be selling soon at quite an exciting event, teehee) to how Angie's legs maybe the answer to world hunger (it sounds better when said than read). I just can't quite remember the last time I felt time speed by like that and had the luxury not to worry about it. Today was refreshing. :)
Another great thing about today (see: title) was Exile's Chuck Berry Apple Pie. My LORD. It is delicious. That's all that I can say. All the apples and berries in that cinammon-y gooey goodness. Muy delicioso. I had this ala mode too, but all the ice cream sort of fell inside. Better picture of this next time, definitely. If you're ever on Taft or Quirino or Vito Cruz, or hell even Baywalk, get your ass over to Exile on Main Street (Leon Guinto, behind Burgundy) and try this pie. It is the most delicious thing I have ever tasted. Yes, I like it more than their brownies. :))

Brightside Entry | To Be Loved

Alright, so I cut the title of this post just so because it is sweet to be loved--not just by your boyfriend or significant other but also by your family, friends and (perhaps most importantly) yourself. Today was pretty well-balanced for me and it really helped me appreciate the great people around me. :D Today began with me dropping my mom off at Makati and being accompanied by our dear driver Kuya Will to my job interview in QC (right at the edge of NLEX, I kid you not). Because my family isn't usually the kind of family where free rides are given often or assistance is lent you when it comes doing what you want, I was thrilled that my mom allowed me to be driven to my interview. I was not relishing the prospect of arriving via train to a place I have no idea how leave, to head to a place I've no idea how to get to. I'm also super thankful to Kuya Will, who's been with us since I was three years old. He was uber patient despite the traffic and kept cracking funny jokes even if I a) forgot the piece of paper the address was written on and b) brought the tiniest map ever made.

My interview lasted around 20 minutes and then poof! I was free a whole hour or two before I'd expected to be so I called Keav up and we decided to meet at Greenhills. After Kuya Will dropped me off at the Promenade in Greenhills, I decided to treat myself to coffee and macarons at Bizu. And while I used to like their macarons, I don't think they're as good as the ones from La Vie En Rose Sweets; these were more expensive and just not as tasty. The coffee was alright as well. While part of me is tempted to regret buying the macarons, I'd like to believe that time shouldn't be wasted on regret--especially over passable macarons.
I spent the better part of an hour reading Looking for Alaska by John Green. This book is pretty good so far. I like John Green's language and he's made a character that is angsty but is innocent and vulnerable too and that's definitely something I like. In a lot of ways, this reminds me of Perks of Being A Wallflower in that they both deal with the same things--being thrust into new friendships, disenchantment with love, etc. But of course, I've yet to finish it so I don't quite have the material to form a solid opinion yet. :)
Keav arrived after a bit and we spent the day together--this was wonderful for me, as we'd been apart all of last week and most of this week and I really, really miss him during weekdays. It was so much fun just to goof around and catch up and tell stories of the things we'd been doing while we were away from each other. :) Later in the evening, we also hung out with our friends Karlo & Flexy, who just got enganged--congrats Karlo & Flex! It was so nice seeing them again and being able to hang out and laugh at funny internet stuff even if I could only stay for a bit because Alabang is a pretty long commute away from San Juan.

Brightside Entry | Dance, Dance

No, this has nothing to do with that old Fall Out Boy song--although I do quite like that one. :)) Today, I hung out with my bestfriends at Johnny Rockets in Town; we had a pretty awesome merienda of fries + rootbeer floats. It really put me in a good mood that they danced around to oldies songs and that you can pick songs off the jukebox. Plus, it's been a while since me, Joy, Marz & Trish were all together. These peeps really help me stay grounded and not go insane (I live in my head a lot) around the soul deadening-ness of the world.

Plus, today didn't turn out as bad as I'd thought it would--while the test was the equivalent of being slapped in the face with a spiked cucumber (what do I do with this?) it happened pretty damn fast and I was able to have a great lunch with my friend Akire + get back to Alabang in time to hang out with 'ze girls.

We spent the afternoon laughing about tattoo ideas, ridiculous things and things we're excited about. We also went furniture window shopping for Marz's new pad which she's furnishing and moving into this week! Whopee! :) After Joy and Trish went home, Marz and I made like old times and sat in the ruined (old) part of Town Center and talked about life--our insights, the things we've been feeling lately and how our perspectives have changed in the past few months. Growing up, Marz and I used to take the jeep into our village together a lot and I really felt nostalgic hanging out with her again. Since she moved residences, we haven't been able to hang out as much and it was such a relief to get to talk to her about life things and really catch up. :)

I've got a big interview tomorrow and I really hope it goes well--it's all the way in QC though and every time I head up there I get kind of nervous (just because it's so far away which means more time for traffic to f up your day) but I'm definitely hopeful it'll go well. :D Hope everyone's starting the week right!
The Johnny Rockets interior is really homey--it compensates for its high ceilings with cozy chairs and very roomy booths. Also, the music selection was brilliant; I'm a huge 60s/70s music fan so I just swooned when they played The Everly Brothers' All I Have To Do Is Dream and followed that up with Spiral Staircase's Broken Hearted Man. Heavenly.
One of my favorite things about the Johnny Rockets interior are these vintage posters that they have tacked up onto the wall. They're so pretty and really give the place a hangout-friendly feel. Plus, the women on these 50s posters are always so beautiful; that elegant, understated glam has always appealed to me. :)
It was really great seeing these girls again--and all together at that. While we see each other individually, it's never quite the same as when we're all together. There's definitely some Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants shiz going on here--minus the pants and travel money.

Everything in Johnny Rockets seems well thought-out and that's something I really appreciate. Even the promotional brochure saying they host events is done up very well.

Brightside Entry | Last Night

Hey,everyone! Pardon the late update, I'm currently sick--and hoping there won't be class tomorrow because even if I am sick I'll still have to go because of damned projects and freaking reports; I spent the whole day napping on Keavin's lap while he watched Ivanhoe (Liz Taylor was beautiful) on TCM hence the late update.

Anyway, last night was super fun!!! It was so great seeing people who I've missed and meeting my friend Joy's man. We had a texmex dinner at Mexicali and a couple of cocktails (warning: do not order a pina colada)--they had this really cool buy two, get one free promo so yeah. We just hung out until around midnight, after which we parted with the lovers and decided to head to Merville to check out a bar that Marz recommended. It was rastafarian-themed, which was kind of funny but the ambiance was great and they served a wonderful chilled beer.

All-in-all last night was wonderful! Photos below to better illustrate what my yapping on  and on can't!
Joy and monsieur Shanky finally together after all the internet romancing in the world--yay for Skype but nothing beats talking to someone in the flesh!
Even if she's born in December, Shanky insisted we celebrate Joy's birthday last night since he won't be here for her birthday. So we pulled out the strawberry shortcake and sang her a little song!

Joy decided to give Shanky a little surprise of her own and put a wallop of icing on his face.
Me and Keav. :) He was such a sweetheart and I swear to god, I wouldn't know what to do without him. We spent most of the night dancing the Gangnam Style dance (which you should definitely go and check out on YouTube) and making perverted (but polite?) jokes. Perfect.
Oh yes, Marz did it. She attempted to drink three different cocktails of three different types all at the same time. Mission accomplished!
Funny coinkidink: Marz & Trish were dressed in similar colors with a similar accent. Great minds and all that? :))

How was your weekend? :D I hope it was half as fun as mine. Here's to rejuvenation for tomorrow! I think I'm going to head to bed early. Goodnight, World!

Brightside Entry | Surprises!

Or rather, surprising people! This weekend, I went Los Banos with Keav, my (questionably, kidding) male bestfriend Carlos & their entire highschool barkada (CIMG) to surprise one of their best friends--Happy Birthday again, Matt!

I really love surprises and so when Keav invited me along, I immediately agreed. Matt's girlfriend Nancy arranged for all of us to be waiting at this private pool resort that was rented out for the evening when Matt arrived from school. Surprising people (in a good way) is always lots of fun; it's great to see people find unexpected happiness. In this case, Nancy blindfolded Matt and when he opened his eyes everyone was standing up on the landing of the videoke area--I swear it looked crazy from where I was standing, I can only imagine how it must've looked from Matt's perspective. I wish I had a photo of that moment but you know, I was too riled up with anticipation at the surprise.

All-in-all it was a super fun weekend--so much goofing around (yes, Ciccio & Howling Fury I mean you) and making new friends. I didn't get a wink of sleep last night because we were videoke-ing until 5:30 am and the place was only rented out until 6:00 am.

This morning was cool and crisp and hangover-healthy. We drove back to the city very, very early. Because everyone else (sans myself and Carlos & his brother Raph) is from the north, I was pretty worried about how I was going to get to Alabang since everyone was heading to San Juan. But Jim (+ everyone in Holvin's car, since it was a convoy) was kind enough to drive me and Keav to Alabang. Thanks to everyone!
And that was it for this weekend! :) I'm hoping this week'll be even more fun and adventure-filled. Happy Sunday, everyone!

Introspection | Life Is About Trading

There's been so much action and posting and exciting things happening here lately that I haven't had time to take a breather and write down things that are more on the introspective side. One of the things that Before Ever After made me realize is that life is all about trading things in for other things. More than choices, life is about barter. It isn't just choosing one thing, it's paying the toll and giving some things, people, opportunities for other things, people and opportunities.

I know how it feels to be traded in--for loneliness, for someone else, for a dream that needed to be chased--and that feels like shit. But also, I thought about all the people I'd traded in for the need to grow and have come to the realization that the only thing that's meant to be is what happens. If something doesn't happen, then it isn't mean to be. The only thing that really matters is manifestation because that is more or less a reflection of what is inside--intent, desire, what have you. People are always talking about should've beens and what ifs but the truth is that most things happen because of something. Like if a woman spends her entire life mourning over the loss of the "love of her life" who she didn't marry because he had no money whilst she stays in a loveless marriage to a rich man then she is in love with the convenience of being rich--at least more so than she is with her ex-lover. Otherwise, she would've stayed with him or found a way out of the marriage.

And I have this one friend who, at his (now) fiancee's request, stopped talking to me. Last August, pre-engagement, he asked me to hang out with him to catch up and trade books (completely platonic, mind you). I arrived at the place to find his fiancee there with him. He said, "I can only stay for a bit. But here's your book." He shoved my book into hands and I realized: this wasn't a catch-up meeting, it was showing her (and me) that he'd made the trade--we could no longer hang out without her there. It was a mini-friendship break up of sorts: "Here are your things, let's not get into why this has to happen." And that stung. But whatever.

This situation has been mimicked lately--except this time maybe closer to home. Not that I mind; friends are great and lovely and precious but in the end it's significant others who we build our lives with. It's our significant others that we marry and we live with. But I suppose all I ask is that people stick to their choices and stop complaining about these circumstances as if it's something being forced onto them. It's okay to state things the way they are.

Brightside Entry | Cocktail Night

Tonight was so much fun. I'm not just saying that because it's the first time I've had a drink in two months either (although I've never heard anyone complain about a cocktail at Fridays). Tonight was lots of fun--I got to hang with two of my favorite people in the world Nico & Ina; these two are crazy and there's never a dull moment hanging out with them. Seriously. We spent the night sipping cocktails, talking about old times and the ridiculous things that we had done, want to do and probably will do: like saynig it's your birthday to get free ice cream. ;)

So...Happy Birthday to me!

Brightside Entry | The Lovely Pain of Laughter

Today I had lunch with two of my friends, Lorri & Joelle at Exile (yes, Akire if you're reading this, I went back and ate my weight in shittake mushrooms--I had the Fourshroom Pie + wasabi mayo appetizer thing; also the waiter was looking for you asan si ate? hahaha). And we spent the entire lunch hour talking about our crazy friends (and lovers, who are friends both with all of us and each other) and the things they do that make them so lovable/goofy. We also talked about how we're all secretly hipsters and it's so uncool to be cool to be uncool--oh, fuck that. :))

Afterward, my stomach hurt not just from being uber full but also from laughing so hard. I enjoy these conversations very much because I find that there aren't a lot of people who can make me laugh. I have to agree with something my friend Sulky Ron told me once, "Laughter is divine." My highschool literature teacher (who is by far the best teacher I've ever had the pleasure of learning from, I think) Ms. Ella also told us during one of the lessons where she made us watch a couple of The Simpsons episodes that "Laughter is also a measure of intelligence." And I agree. Laughter is just as profound as sadness.

And while most of the things I've ever written (short stories, etc.) indicate otherwise, I think that happiness, laughter can resonate just as strongly as sadness. I find that our generation tends to get so caught up in the loneliness that we feel keeps us from what we want to do--we are both self-entitled and whiny, which doesn't make for a lot of productivity or happiness--that we forget to just do things that make us happy; we forget that outside of the internet or video games or shopping, there are people.

Lorri and I were talking about our tendencies to become reclusive and while I agree that it's okay to give yourself space to breathe sometimes, I don't believe that locking yourself (myself, I mean) in your room is the way to go. Today was a great day for me and I think it's because I've (for the meantime) stopped living in my head. I went out and got things done--sent packages, packed parcels, hung out with friends, delivered packages--and that isn't always the easiest thing in the world but by no means is that a very big problem. I want to get rid of this odd self-entitlement that I find so many of us have: I don't deserve this job, I should get paid higher, I didn't even want to be taking this course, I only settled for this situation, I'm a (insert accomplishment here) for crying out loud.

I have this theory that people never settle for anything, really: they do what they want and when they're no longer happy with that they say that they settled. And I don't want to be one of those people. I want to take responsibility for my life and my actions and my relationships and friendships. :) And laughing out loud with Lorri & Joelle was definitely a good start; thank you girls for the lunch! Today was refreshing. :)

Introspection | Sincere Friendship Interactions

Today, I heard from a friend of mine who'd been out of the country for a while--he messaged to let me know that he's back. And because I'm incredibly naive sometimes, I thought that he meant to tell me this so that we could organize a dinner of some sort or hang out and catch up, finally--we haven't seen each other in almost a year; August 2011 was the last time I'd seen him, at an event that didn't go too well (although the music was excellent). 10 months later and I am definitely expecting some quality time or at least the want for it.

So, I get this message (via Facebook, nonetheless) and I ask what he's got going on, expecting an invite to dinner or to hang out--and he says, "I'm joining this competition thing, can you help support me at an event tomorrow evening?" And wow. I'm not saying that I don't ask my friends for help, I do but not like that--it felt like someone making a cold call, like in networking or marketing and that is something that offends me. There was no care whatsoever for what the other person was going through, or no desire to find out what was happening on the other end of that conversation. And I guess it's alright, people get busy--I myself am not the best person at catching up or making time but I don't think I'm ever rude or hurtful unless threatened. Hay. It's just so sad, I guess.

Brightside Entry | Spreading The Love

While I'm waiting for today's Day In The Life Challenge to upload on YouTube, I thought I would give you a little background info on the care package thing that I prepared for Akire today. :) See, I know how difficult break-ups can be, especially since I've been through so many of them. I know especially how difficult it can be when you're the one who's done the breaking up with the other person. I have huge, huge empathy for people who have the courage to do the breaking up with because they're the ones who (in most cases) have the guts to face that something is wrong with the said relationship and are honest enough to say or do something. So much of the time, the people who've been broken up with are just scared to be the un-sympathized-with party. :)) But let's get into that later.

Anyway, Akire is my friend who was also my editor back in Malate and one of the best women that I know. :D So yeah! Giving care packages was something that I used to do back in 2008/2009 for my friends when they'd break up with people. I think the most epic one I'd put together before now was for my college BFF Cha (hi, Cha!) when she broke up with her long distance then-boyfriend: I remember I bought her this beautiful pink polka-dotted dress and the package came complete with a copy of Cosmo and He's Just Not That Into You as well as a copy of the Princess Diaries.

But yeah. I've found that (for the most part) people have been so nice to me and it's just right to pay it forward and spread the love. I'll save the reveal of the stuff I included in the package for when the video is up, but I'll put a little teaser up here as well. Later on in the day, Akire & I ran into our friend (Sulky) Ron at Hollys Coffee Shop and they decided to do a little modelling. :)) We also did some cyber catching up with our friend Mon, who was our Photography Editor back on the Editorial Board for Malate Literary Folio and is one of the funniest, craziest, most irreverent and spontaneous people I know. :D

TGIF indeed!

Mon, cyber-having coffee with us. :)
Akire making an effort to wear everything in the bag that I gave her. :) The hat and the necklace were right out the box. And Ron, of course (photo below) would not be outdone.

Brightside Entry | Independence Day/Bestfriend-sary

While I'm not exactly one to be patriotic--I think it's believing that people are better than other people because they were born somewhere else, which I think is pretty craycray--Independence Day this year was very, very good for me. :) I spent the day with three of my favorite people: Keav, JC & Marz.

Keav and I spent the afternoon together and we caught up with JC & Marz later on in the day. We spent the evening first at the open-air lounge in Shang (EDSA) and later on, at the KFC in the same mall. The great thing about spending time with good friends is that you can spend so much time laughing--something that, I've realized, as you get older becomes rarer. My stomach hurt so bad from doubling over in laughter most of the day. :) Here's to independence, indeed!

Also, this June is Marz and I's 10-year Friendship-versary! In 2002, we met as two awkward 11-year-olds on a school bus with a cranky driver whose favorite thing to make us laugh would be to pretend that his stomach was about the deflate.

I feel like the lady's mouth on the poster above JC's head is going to leap out and eat him. :))

P.S. Also, Trizha spent the evening here last night and I let her tattoo me with her homemade tattoo-ing kit which consists of a sewing needle, calligraphy ink and a pencil. It sounds painful but it really wasn't that bad. I got a small lioness done near my collarbone. That definitely made me feel independent. I'd been talking about getting a tattoo for years but haven't really had the money or the guts to do it, so yeah--definitely glad I did that. Photos of this tomorrow. :)

Brightside Entry 18: Coffee with the Best Friend!

Alright, before I begin this entry let me clarify: I have a lot of different types of "best friends". For instance, Trizha is my soulmate (we have a lot of things in common and can talk about almost anything), Cha Bernardez is my BFF and well, the pet names go on and on (Mitch is my Kiki would take a little more explaining though, so let's save that for another time hahahaha).

But the label "Best Friend" goes to Marz. :)) This year, our friendship turns 10 years old--while we do periodically get on each others' nerves (like every month), we always make sure that we've got each others' backs. Marz has been there through almost every crush, every relationship, every happy moment and every "what the fuck am I doing with my life" moment. We haven't seen each other in almost two weeks (if I remember correctly) and it was very nice to get to catch up with her. :)

We had coffee at Bizu and talked about everything we haven't been present to witness these past few weeks--happiness, despair, quarter life crises and our hopes and dreams for the future. <33
