Stitch It Up

I'm not sure how to feel about the lighting in our garden, nowadays. Since we've had the roof re-vamped it's been extremely sunny and all my photos make me look like I'm standing in front of a floodlight. Yay or nay?

Anywho. I know I swore not to cut my hair, but I couldn't resist. I was looking through photos of Tegan Quin and fuck, that woman has wonderful hair. Anyway. Yeah. So I got my hair cut into an assymetrical bob. It's shorter in the back and longer in the front and I quite like it. No hair cutting until Christmas (hopefully), promise. I keep thinking that I want to grow my hair hippie-long but 1. I'm not sure if I can afford the hair productage that would entail and 2. I really like getting my hair cut. Sigh. It's a wonder I kept my hair long for so long (harhar) before having it cut last year.

Anyway, just running errands today. Wearing this striped top that's still on sale over at the WinaWonders Store. I'm going to be putting up a new collection in time for Halloween; my apologies for being on hiatus but there's been so much going on, what with the launching of MoarBooks, and working on Paperweight (getting legal docs fixed and stuff) and keeping this blog up and getting through my reading and studying for class. I solemnly swear I will get to that soon.

If You're Going Downtown

Today, I headed over to Taft to have coffee with Trizha and talk about life and upcoming projects. She's agreed to illustrate Sugar, Spell It Out for me and so I'm super excited for that. One of the things I love about Metro Manila in the morning is that if you take an Ordinary Fare (non-airconditioned) bus, it passes through the Skyway and when you look out the window you can see everything below you and it almost feels like you're flying. However, when going downtown (figuratively--literally, it would be more like northwesttown), especially via bus,  you definitely have to put in a little more effort to dress street-smart. So, yeah.
Today I'm wearing one of my favorite tops from the store tucked into high-waist jeans. I've really been into this sleeker, less frilly look lately and I think it definitely did well for today. :)

I realize what the implications of owning an Armani bag might be and well, let me clarify that this has come into my possession because my dad has a leather bag collection that he's been building up for 30 years and he recently decided to let this one go because one of the buckles on the bottom broke off (as you can see below). He was thinking of just keeping it for sentimental value, but I asked for it instead because I love the way leather smells and I kinda like that it's a bit broken. I have a thing for things that are kinda old and a little worn out. So yeah. It really meant a lot to me for my dad to give this to me. :)

Barenaked

Does anyone remember that song by Jennifer Love-Hewitt? Anyway, I heard it on the radio today and about ten years ago, that was my favorite song in the world. Still catchy and still relatable. I'm sure everyone knows how it feels to feel exposed and like you just want to go home and hide forever. :))

Today, however is not one of those days. First off, I'm headed to Taft to hang out with Akire and deliver clothes. We're going to eat/hang out at this place that I haven't ever been to so that ought to be fun, definitely. I'm also meeting up with my friend Lorri to give her a little gift! After that, I'm heading to the hospital to see my doctor about lumpy (this little growth on my neck); although I'm almost sure it's benign since it's almost disappeared, I'm still crossing my fingers. I don't want to get too complacent. And later on in the day, I'm finally going to get to see Joy and Trish!!!!!!! I haven't seen them in ages and I'm really looking forward to chilling out with them. :) Girlygirlsgirls.

Also, I recently bought the web domain www.winawonders.com so that'll be the official address for this site from now on. At the moment, winawonders.blogspot.com still works because Blogger/Google are still making the custom domain available to different regions in the world but in two days' time, www.winawonders.com will be the only working URL. :D I'm so happy! It's terribly convenient and is Facebook-friendly (which was my problem with the .tk account).

Brightside Entry | Time of Your Life

So I have been MIA from this blog for about three days, which is forever for me. I've totally been slacking off on all of the things which this blog is supposed to provide--fashion, bits from everyday life and certain bouts of introspection. However, while there is no good excuse for slacking off, I have not been completely unproductive, and I'd like to share these things with you all:

1.) Job Opportunities
Ever since I was little, I've always known that I wanted to write. While I am more passionate about literature, I do realize the need to make a living and I recognize that fact (with the exception of J.K. Rowling hahaha) is usually more profitable than fiction--and I need to stay alive to be able to write, so yeah. I've been applying for jobs via JobStreet, which I think is one of the most efficient ways to go about the employment process. I've been receiving a lot of job opportunities so far and have interviews lined up for next week, which I'm simultaneously anxious about and looking forward to. :) I won't mention any names due to confidentiality and so as not to jinx anything, but I'm definitely hoping for this one job that I really want. :D Wish me luck!

2.) Being A One-Woman Machine
One of the challenges of owning your own store and blogging alone and all that jazz is that for all the glory that comes with being an "independent" woman, it is downright difficult to do everything yourself. I spent yesterday gathering garments, finding a place to shoot them in natural lighting, photographing them and then hauling them back to my room. I then went on to spend the rest of the evening uploading the photos and listing prices as well as working on the poster for the collection. :)) I'm not complaining--in the end, it was all worth it, because I got the collection up as promised but I'm definitely considering hiring an assistant who wouldn't mind doing things for me like handling prices, listing orders and helping me shoot photos for the collections (if I can afford it, that is). :) Anyway, here are a couple of things that are available over at the store. Definitely check that out! I've also got another giveaway with Price Tag coming up tomorrow. :D

This frog jacket is adorable and is a great way to stay festive and fresh during the rainy season; it's definitely one of the jems of this collection--it also helps that the fabric is feather-soft.
Glamour, glamour, glamour. I posted a photo of myself wearing this beautiful jacket and I'm very, very surprised that this is still available. :) This jacket was bought in the States and the lining and the quality of the finish are impeccable. This could style a million old Hollywood looks just right. If it wasn't considered stealing (kind of) I'd buy this myself.
So many shorts for this collection! We've got something for everyone--whether you're classy, country club-pinstripes type gal or a more casual, denim and sneakers type doll, I guarantee you'll find something here. The adorable Mickey-print detail on the pair of shorts below definitely lend a feminine, nostalgic take to any look styled with these denims.

Houndstooth--one of the classiest, most versatile patterns ever created. This skirt is perfect for any woman who's got curves--it tightens and gives way in all the right areas and would look wonderful under a blazer and worn to work as well as dressed up with a tight black top, red lipstick and strappies on a date out. ;)

3.) Study, Study, Study!

Organic Chemistry long test coming up this Monday. Wish me luck! *GULP*

And that's it for now! :) More tomorrow, definitely!

Stop Crying Over Me

Wow. Okay, I think this day marked the point of recovery from the short detour which everyday life has taken for me, recently--first, the trip to the hospital last week, second, the food poisoning and lastly, having to deal with Organic Chemistry.

Because I have no classes on Tuesdays & Thursdays, I decided to take the opportunity to hang out with Keav in Greenhills today and watch Rock of Ages. I quite liked this movie--it was a little cheesy and over-the-top but hey, the 80s was all about being cheesy and over-the-top so I didn't mind it. I liked it, actually. Tom Cruise was definitely the star of that show--50 has never looked so good on anyone. Paul Giamatti was also amazing and surprisingly hate-able. Alec Baldwin and Russel Brand were super endearing as well. Over-all, a likey. Also, on a side note: the theater in Greenhills is wonderful. I wanted to live in that seat! It's also great if you're going with your significant other because you can raise the armrests and cuddle and be comfy while watching the movie. And the seats themselves are just so plush and wide--I could go on all day.

Anyway, for easy-commuting but rain-ready purposes, today I wore this Folded & Hung playsuit that I bought off of Lula Bop's with these old Terranova maroon stockings and Fioni boots from Payless. And on top of that ensemble, I threw on the Donna Karan jacket from the WinaWonders Store and I definitely felt ready to rock. In fact, this jacket really tied my day together, I think--Sherrie from Rock of Ages was wearing a denim jacket in almost every scene she was in. :))

Save It For A Rainy Day: Sneak Preview

As promised, I decided to shoot a couple of looks today and give you all an idea of what to expect from our upcoming collection over at the WinaWonders Store. We're coming out with a lot of girly, playful things but with a rainyday edge--we've also got sweaters, leather jackets and more edgy things that we hope ya'll will like. ;)

Enjoy!

I have gone completely loca over this sparrow dress. And if buying it wouldn't simultaneously bankrupt my little business as well as burn a hole in my personal pocket, I swear to goodness I would've. The print is so playful and I can imagine myself wearing it anywhere. But well, yeah: good news is it's definitely going into the next collection for ya'll. :)
This Cheddar-colored polo shirt is made of the best soft-canvass type cloth I have ever felt. I also love the sort of boxy silhouette; it accentuates the female figure and is perfect for both work and just lounging around.
Ah. I do not have words to describe this jacket. How. How. How. Brilliant, literally. I am in love with the gloss ombre finish of this jacket. This is something my friend brought back from the States and it's perfect for every party that anyone could ever think to go to. It's tailored perfectly as well--it fits my friend who's roughly 5"8 and it fits me (and I'm barely 5", in case anyone was wondering) pretty well too. You can wear it over a dress or a pair of tights or in my case, a pair of topaz harem pants. :)

Hee! Stay tuned for more! ;)

Brightside Entry | Clothes, clothes, clothes!

I spent today organizing things for our next collection (I'll be giving you a sneak peak tomorrow) and while I am exhausted, I am also so happy! Usually when we sell things at the store we have about 10 to 15 garments that are gone in the time it takes for our lovely shopaholics customers over at the store to type "MINE" in the comments box. :) But this time, we're doing something unlike anything we've done before: we're putting out at least 30 items and the garments are beautiful; they also come from such a diverse selection: some things Trish brought back from Korea & China and others are vintage things found by other friends and wow, I've never been this excited I think. The extra rack that I keep in my room is almost filled with clothing and prospective outfits. :) I'm also expecting a shipment of clothing coming in from Singapore--the final installment of our collection. :D

I also took photos of more items that my sponsors and I are giving away this week--so many pretty things that I truly wish I could keep for myself. :)) Hints: nail polish, denim, jewelry.

How was your day? :)

New Slang When You Notice The Stripes

God, I miss listening to The Shins. Ever since my phone's been dropped one time too many and decided to stop reading memory cards I've been in mp3 hell--my phone can only hold two songs at a time. And I'm almost afraid to put a song in there that I like because I might get sick of it (as has happened to all the other songs, yes). :)) Anyway.

Today is a great day! And my first day of official unemployment or you could say---self-employment. After doing a bunch of things for Saturday's shoot, I'm currently getting ready to head to Magallanes to spend a day with myself and meet Keavin after work. :) I'm wearing a thrifted floral top with my favorite pair of jeans, flats and a hippie headband that I made myself. I've also decided--since I have more time on my hands--to post up the mini-projects that I work on, such as the hippie headbands. :)

Don't Play Cheap With Your Heart

I've been listening to Katy Perry's first album and she sounds amazing on that record--I love almost every track. Somehow, I find her new stuff just doesn't have that same (forgive me for getting all Spice Girls on you) human touch. Hrrrrrm. Anyway.

So yesterday, Trizh & I went bead/materials shopping and have come up with so, so many things. But you'll see that on the store later tonight so let's not dwell. Today, I'm headed out to Taft to meet up with Keav; I feel like I haven't seen him in ages! Also, picking up a couple of things for Saturday's shoot. :) Super duper excited!

Anyway, today I decided to wear a couple of the things from our first ever jewelry collection entitled So Kiss Me. The necklaces and bracelets are to die for! So much wooden beading! I also love that the colors are playful without being overly gaudy (although I suppose that works too, sometimes). And speaking of kisses, today I decided to revive my Coral Rush lipstick that I got a couple of months ago. I'm in love with all things salmon-colored (except, well, salmon). <33

Secret Stripe

As the second installment of the "How To Wear It" section of the WinaWonders Store today I'm wearing Secret Stripe--a beautiful gray polo shirt that's currently going for P 275 over at the store. I am love with it's elegant silhouette and how the blues are so subtle (hence the garment name). Today, I wore these with my denim shorts from Greenhills (forgot the brand), opaque gray stockings from Terranova and two beautiful rings that I got from C & M (they're opening their online store soon, so watch out for that). :)

Have a good Tuesday, everyone!
