Cake, Ethan Hawke, Bare Legs, This Song & Then Some (C&F, Post 2)

Today was a pretty good day. Not much was stressful about it other than it was unbearably warm during the day. I was wearing tights (as you can see in the photo below) today and I just could not bear it.
I ended up removing my stockings and buying socks right before hopping on a bus. BAM. Bare legs like a boss--with the nerdiest exercise socks ever to top that awkward look off. :)) Give me easy breezy any day. Also, I've been obsessed with this song by The National called Humiliation: it's so freaking catchy!
I got my rings around me,
I got baby to pound me.

A Slice of Happy

Last week, I hung out with my friend Joelle and we spent around three, four hours laughing about the silliest things. :) I didn't get to blog about this because later that day, my brother got hospitalized but this was one of the best days I had last week (sans the bit about the hospital). So much fun! We talked about our friends (who we haven't seen in the longest time) and about Paperweight and about her art cards (she's agreed to sell some of her cards at the Paperweight launch) and about how money (not having it anyway) can be a real byotch.

Anyway, Joelle's been taking up voice acting lessons (you can read all about it on her blog, it is the cat's pajamers) and because of that she is now banned (basically) from ingesting sweet, sticky, sugary goodness. So that day (before this diet thang began) we decided to treat ourselves to a slice of happy--a last hooray for Joelle's sweet tooth. :))
Beanhoppers has been one of my favorite places to eat since I was in my junior year (don't ask what year I am now, harhar)--they've got great coffee. Up until recently, I haven't really hung out here in a while because other cafes started sprouting out everywhere--so much coffee to try, so little time. But yeah I've rediscovered this place recently, because of the hatred for the lack of money mentioned earlier. :)) They have yummyummy cake, for not bad prices. I love their French Toast meal too--which comes with egg and a free mug of brewed coffee. Mmmm.
The photo above is a slice of the Tiramisu Cheesecake (yes, this is not a dream) which I had and below is a snapshot of the Red Velvet cake which Joelle had. :D

Favorite Things | Cakes at Conti's

I have Marz to thank for this discovery; I've only recently been going to the Conti's in Town Center because I'm the kind of person who likes to stick to what she knows and I grew up going to the one in BF Homes so I just never really thought to head to the little bakery they have here in Alabang. But a week ago (it was a Sunday), Marz decided to drag me over there to split a dessert; as it turns out that was one thing about that day that went right. :)) We had New York Cheesecake and while this might be a little biased as NY Cheesecake is my favorite kind, it was the best cake I've ever tasted. Most cake shops that make NY Cheesecake tend to either go overboard with the cream or let the cake get really, really bland. But at Conti's they're able to keep their cake fresh and delicious; there's a hint of citrus-ness that doesn't let the creamy texture of the cheesecake overpower the dessert.
Today, after my brunch/movie date with myself  I met up with Joy and Trish and we headed to Conti's after dinner for a little something sweet. Joy bought a chocolate cake for her man love (whose birthday it is today--Happy Birthday monsieur!) and Trish & I split a Blueberry Cheesecake. We were also picked as one of the lucky tables that got free samples of their butterscotch bars which were delicious as well. :)

Conti's is definitely a place to go if you want value for your money; a (pretty big) slice of cake here costs on the average P80 and it's great to split with a friend because eating the whole slice may overwhelm your tastebuds. :) They also have very affordable coffee and excellent customer service. This definitely brightened up my day. I'll be back, Conti's!
