Favorite Things | Jamba Juice

I hung out with the family today after a very tiring but fulfilling day of chem lab, hanging out with friends, walking around Shaw/Ortigas and having an early dinner with Keav. I got to Town Center at around 8:00 and found that all of the day's walking had made me hungry again--I ate something very healthy: a noodle/lettuce dish with a fish sauce/vinegar dressing; I'll get back to you on what this was called or I think my sissy-in-law Ate Audrey is doing a post on this soon, if you'd like to check this out.

My favorite part of that meal, however, came post-dinner. We decided to go to Jamba Juice for dessert--we're all trying to eat as healthily as we can; life is precious and while my family is truly one composed of people who are alcoholics and chain smokers deep down, we've lately made a decision to try and switch that lifestyle around.
And really, it isn't much of a challenge--who wants soda when there is something as delectable as Jamba Juice around. I'm not usually a fan of fruit shake stands because the syrup they use to sweeten the fruit makes me want to throw up, but the thing I love about Jamba Juice is that they really use juice to make the smoothies. My favorite is the Carribean Passion--although my sisters like Mango Go (I think that's what it's called) and my brother likes the Aloha one.
Me, exhausted but happy after a long, well-traveled day. :)
A drink for everyone! I also love the booster shot things that they give you for free--I chose the one with anti-oxidants because hey, who doesn't want to age gracefully? :) Yumyumyum! Definitely one of the great things about today! Happy Monday everyone! I hope your week started out great!

Brightside Entry | Hoarding at Powerbooks

So, after a pretty tiring beginning of the week (which you will learn about in the next post), I let off some steam by buying a couple of books that were on sale at Powerbooks in Alabang Town Center. I'm a fool for sales because books are usually so expensive--even at the cheaper P300-somethings, prices are hardly ever cheap enough to go on a hoarding spree. But today, I saw two books from two of my favorite authors that I just couldn't resist!

1. The Castle In the Pyreenes by Jostein Gaarder
I'm a huge fan of Jostein Gaarder--and while this sounds very, very hipster of me, I like a lot of his not-so-famous stuff. I'm not a huge fan of Sophie's World (a little to text book-ish for my taste) but I loved The Orange Girl, A Christmas Mystery & The Ringmaster's Daughter. I like his more narrative novels; they're oddly touching. Not all his characters are likable but they're always endearing, to a certain extent. :) Anyway, I'm really excited to start on this because it's one of his most recent novels (written in 2008).

2. Catwings by Ursula K. Le Guin
This is a thin storybook with illustrations. I bought it more as a novelty; Ursula Le Guin usually writes fantasy/sci-fi and I'm very, very interested in seeing what she does with the children's tale genre. :)
