So, after a pretty tiring beginning of the week (which you will learn about in the next post), I let off some steam by buying a couple of books that were on sale at Powerbooks in Alabang Town Center. I'm a fool for sales because books are usually so expensive--even at the cheaper P300-somethings, prices are hardly ever cheap enough to go on a hoarding spree. But today, I saw two books from two of my favorite authors that I just couldn't resist!
1. The Castle In the Pyreenes by Jostein Gaarder
I'm a huge fan of Jostein Gaarder--and while this sounds very, very hipster of me, I like a lot of his not-so-famous stuff. I'm not a huge fan of Sophie's World (a little to text book-ish for my taste) but I loved The Orange Girl, A Christmas Mystery & The Ringmaster's Daughter. I like his more narrative novels; they're oddly touching. Not all his characters are likable but they're always endearing, to a certain extent. :) Anyway, I'm really excited to start on this because it's one of his most recent novels (written in 2008).
2. Catwings by Ursula K. Le Guin
This is a thin storybook with illustrations. I bought it more as a novelty; Ursula Le Guin usually writes fantasy/sci-fi and I'm very, very interested in seeing what she does with the children's tale genre. :)
