Today, I was very disturbed to find out that one of the kindest people I've met online (Denise of Simone's Fashion Closet) has this weird online stalker person posting all kinds of shit on her wall (excuse my french). I know how it feels to be the target of things like this--except, in my case the person didn't scrimp on the expletives--and it's really, really stupid when people take time out of their day to send hate someone's way. It's also been my experience that most of the time, they do this kind of thing to the nicest people too.
One of my professors once told me that "if we are intolerant of the intolerant, we too become intolerant" and for a long time, I'd believed that. But lately, I've been thinking about it and I don't think intolerance should be tolerated. While I guess it's more peaceful, I think that if it's wrong to over penalize someone for an offense, it's also wrong to let them get away with it.
I think that if someone is harassing you online and deliberately heading onto your site or page and leaving you terrible messages, then you should go ahead and block them or don't hesitate to click "Report User". Also, a snappy reply back doesn't hurt either. I'm all for being nice but online hate and terrorism of this sort just can't be tolerated. It's this kind of hate that makes the internet shitty: if all the great bloggers and online writers are victimized or allow themselves to be victimized then there'll be nothing good left to read online. We've got to stand up for ourselves. :) One great tip is putting up comments for moderation so you can reply in private to these scumbags.
But on the other hand, having haters is also a sign of success, I think. Hateration is always, always born out of jealousy and insecurity and if someone hates you enough to seek you out and post terrible things about you without leaving their name then obviously you're not the one with the problem. :) So I decided to turn this terrible phenomenon around and say congratulations to anyone who's ever had anyone send them hate mail/hate comments: you're living a great life and it's upsetting people who have nothing better to do! :D

awwwwwwwwwwwwwww thank you for this Wina!!!:) I totally agree! but sometimes you are just a human after all, and no matter how you are telling yourself not to react, you really just can't stop it. most especially when you see the worst of the worst comments ever that you doesn't even know where it came from, or why that certain person is doing that you. it hurts and it really maddens me but then at the end of the day, it's worth to always do the right thing :)
