Today, I had the pleasure of dining at Exile, a place that Akire insisted we eat at (and with good reason) for lunch today. With a name like Exile, I was expecting something very clean and Cantina-esque, I think with tiny dishes and slushy Iced Tea.
It was quite the adventure walking from Hollys (Dagonoy area) to Exile, which is along Leon Guinto, across from the back entrance of Burgundy Towers--the rain was pouring, we were both wearing heels and were both struggling to have a meaningful conversation about Fantasy and Literature while staying under Akire's tiny umbrella. :)) We ended up getting there an hour before opening, which was fine really--they have this outdoor lounge area and this adorable fat cat ended up sleeping on Akire's lap.
Anyway, once we got inside, my mouth fell to the floor. The place is like wonderland (yes, as in Alice) meets Noriter meets Kids At Work: they had tables and chairs glued (or hopefully nailed) to the ceiling, lamps made out of old wine bottles and all sorts of beautiful decor. The color-blocking of the furniture also lent a pop of color to the neatly furnished space.
Akire closely inspecting some spoons. :))
They also featured the photography work of this amazing photographer, whose work you can check out over at his site, Walks of Kulot. He takes the most beautiful photos from all over the Philippines and his site is definitely worth taking a look at!
Their food surpassed the decor--they have home-brewed Iced Tea in two delicious flavors: Calamansi (mine, on the left) & Strawberry (Akire's on the right).
The most delicious italian-sausage pasta I've ever had.
Shittake mushrooms with wasabi mayo.
WOOOOW. I WANNA EAT THERE SOMETIME!!!
